I’ve a passion for percussion,
I love a kettle drum,
I like a snare or high hat,
Something to make my eardrums thrum!
But there is just one instrument,
That stands apart, alone,
And that’s the mellow sound, the tone that comes,
From a wondrous xylophone!

I especially like the first line: the phrase ‘a passion for percussion’ sounds just like percussion instruments, doesn’t it?

It’s among my favorites, too! I fell in love with it as a tot- and it still hits the spot!
Love the poem- X marks that spot!

The xylophone reminds me of another favorite: the steel drum….

Its cousins the marimba, glockenspiel and vibraphone are all pretty great too, though each has its own unique sound. I’ve played all four. Xylophone is the most playful, I think. Mischievous sounding, even.

Thanks for that Laurel!

I found this a pleasant upbeat poem. it’s not easy finding topics for X, but you do it in a lovely way. http://www.writer-way.blogspot.com
